SMART remains guided by our mission of more than 25 years: to empower people to achieve independence from addiction. We invite you to join us in support of this life-changing journey.
Accomplishments
- Growth: In 2018 we surpassed 3,000 meetings, helping hundreds of thousands of individuals around the world. More than 2,000 of these meetings take place in the US. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2019, the number of groups meeting weekly is on track to reach the 3,500 milestone.
- Technology: With ZOOM technology, we offer more than 40 online meetings for those who cannot or choose not to attend in-person meetings. This technology helps overcome obstacles such as lack of transportation or child care, under-served areas, and preferred anonymity and security. Our online meetings are accessible via any mobile device.
- Volunteer Training: Each year SMART Recovery trains more than 3,000 professionals and people recovering from addiction who want to help others. Each year we offer scholarships to volunteers who wish to be trained as meeting facilitators.
